I’ve used the Manfrotto a lot over the past year and I can safely say it does not disappoint. It can store a tonne of equipment and is extremely easy to carry, making it one of the best Phantom 4 backpacks for filmmakers and photographers with a lot of equipment.
In terms of protection, the Manfrotto D1 backpack has a lot to offer. As I previously mentioned, I’ve been using the D1 a lot of the past year and I’ve never had anything damaged inside.
The exterior of the D1 is extremely rigid and offers great protection for your equipment. Inside is also well padded to cushion your drone whilst you’re on the move.
The Manfrotto D1 also comes alongside a free rain protector that can be put over the backpack if it starts raining. Similarly, the D1 has a water resistant coating that adds another layer of protection for your Phantom 4.
The D1’s storage is where the backpack really shines. Manfrotto have designed the backpack with filmmakers and photographers in mind, providing ample room for other camera equipment alongside the Phantom drone.
The backpack itself is littered with compartments and pockets for an array of equipment.
Inside the backpack you can fit a DJI Phantom 4, transmitter, charging cables, DSLR (with lens attached), 3 spare batteries/ 3 spare lenses, ND filters, laptop (15”) and a tablet (7”).
Of course, you can use the compartments to store what ever you want. For example I use one of the inner pockets to bring along my Go Pro and head/chest strap. These three padded pockets inside the backpack are also detachable, allowing you to utilise the inner space to carry equipment other than a drone.
When designing the D1 backpack, it is apparent that Manfrotto had comfort in mind.

The back of the D1 is extremely well padded which acts a bit of a cushion between you and the backpack, reducing any discomfort.

Costing less than $60, it’s one of the cheapest items on our list of the best DJI Phantom 4 backpacks and cases. Although extremely cheap, the SmaPac is very high quality and does a fantastic job of protecting your drone whilst you’re on the go.
Have you ever heard the expression “don’t fix what isn’t broken”? Well, SmaTree definitely have and they’ve applied it to their Phantom 4 backpack.
The SmaPac is designed to house the original Styrofoam container that the Phantom 4 is shipped in. This both reduces the overall cost of their backpack and still provides ample protection to the drone.
