A great and affordable accessory for your drone, a lanyard will allow you to devote maximum concentration to piloting your aircraft whilst also easing the stress on your back. No longer fear dropping and breaking your transmitter whilst on the move! This is one of the best drone accessories that wont break the bank.
A common theme amongst this list of best drone accessories, are their roles in protecting your drone equipment. A landing pad fits the theme nicely as it allows you to safely land your drone in areas that would normally pose a risk. For example, beaches are extremely common places to fly drones; however getting sand in the wrong place can be detrimental. With a light, portable landing pad, this worry is eradicated all together. Similarly a landing pad could protect your drone from wet and muddy ground or even snow. Definitely a great accessory for your drone!
SD Card/ Micro SD Card
Although drones these days tend to come alongside an SD card, these are usually rather small and lets face it; we’ve all been in the situation at one time or another where we wish we had a little bit more storage on us. Be prepared! SD cards these days are extremely cheap, even for a fairly large size such as the SanDisk 64gb. 64gb of memory is a good amount and unless you’re shooting in 4k should definitely be able to store a decent amount of files. The SanDisk comes as a micro SD card with an adapter, allowing you to use whichever size you need. Also, make sure you get a card that is the right class for your drone – typically a class 10 is what you need for the higher quality drones such as the DJI’s. Overall, an SD card (or two) is a vital component in your set up and is easily one of the best drone accessories.
What better way to truly immerse yourself in the flying experience than with FPV goggles? With DJI’s upcoming release of the DJI FPV goggles, now is the perfect time to invest in a pair. If you think FPV racing will be more up your street then check out these FPV goggles by Fat Shark who are one of the industries top innovators in first-person-view flying. Although one of the more pricey items on our list of the best drone accessories, a great investment if you want to take your drone flying to the next level.
The suns glare on the screen is extremely inconvenient and without a sunshade can ruin your shots, or worse still, cause you to crash your drone. With one of these beautiful creations you will have a clear view of the screen, allowing you to pilot your drone with a lot more ease and piece of mind that you aren’t going to crash into an unseen object. For an extremely affordable price a sunshade is a must have accessory for your drone.
A backpack for your drone is arguably one of the most crucial items on this list of top accessories for your drone. Having most likely spent a pretty penny on your UAV, you’re going to want to make sure it is transported safely and comfortably from one place to another. There are a lot of different options of backpacks depending which drone you have – click here to see a list of drone backpack best sellers on Amazon.
For DJI Phantom Models. I always recommend the Manfrotto Aviator D1 Backpack, which we’ve reviewed here. The Manfrotto is a magnificent bag, I myself have travelled across the world with it, and I must say it does a great job! Alternatively, if you have a smaller drone such as a Parrot then the Lowepro DroneGuard CS 400 could be a better fit. Conveniently, we also have an in depth review of DroneGuard backpack here.
Lipo Battery Bag
Drones are the perfect way to capture those unforgettable moments on holiday; however getting the drone to these remote destinations can often pose a few issues. Having a Lipo safe battery bag is an absolute must for anyone travelling via airplane with their batteries. This is primarily for the safety of those on board the airplane and the last thing you want is to have your batteries confiscated before you board! It’s also worth noting that batteries must be depleted to 30% before flying, it’s always a good idea to drain them completely to avoid any kind of debate as to what level the batteries must be. The rules and regulations are constantly changing so it could be a good idea to double check before your fly! A must have drone accessory for those looking to do some travelling.
This is one of the more fancier items on our list of top drone accessories, however numerous pilots out there will tell you how much better flying with an iPad is compared to using a smartphone. Having an iPad is handy for a number of reasons, firstly it avoids draining the battery on your phone, which if you’re flying for a long time can run the risk of running out completely. Secondly, the flying experience itself is dramatically improved, with a much larger and less cluttered view of where you are flying. An iPad mini is perfect for the job as it’s lightweight, got great battery life and also has a retina display option! Overall, if you want to fly to your full potential, then an iPad is one of the best drone accessories for this.
Don’t run the risk of breaking your propellers; they’re a right pain to get a new pair. Having said that, most drones come with a spare pair of props and it’s always a good idea to invest in another set when buying a drone. After all, the propellers are debatably one of the most important parts of a drone, as without them, it’ll fall right out of the sky. Protect them, and they shall reward you. Prop guards are an inexpensive drone accessory that’ll make flying a whole lot safer and in my opinion, make a drone look a lot cooler! Undoubtedly a must have on our list of top drone accessories.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we have the gimbal guard. If you’re a pilot with a drone that has filming capabilities then you’re drone most likely has a gimbal. A very delicate, yet vital piece of engineering that allows you to get those smooth aerial shots. When landing, the gimbal and camera tends to be one of the lowest parts of the drone, meaning that it’s at the highest risk of breaking. If this were to break it would cost an annoying amount to repair and take your precious drone out of action for some time. This relatively cheap drone accessory prevents this from happening, allowing you to rest easy knowing your drone can land safely. A great little addition to our list of top 10 drone accessories.
